Your privacy is very important to me. At Writing Wings there are a few fundamental principles that I, Roland Clarke follow:

  • I don’t ask you for personal information unless I truly need it. (I can’t stand services that ask you for things like your gender or income level for no apparent reason.)
  • I don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, develop my creations, or protect our rights.
  • I don’t store personal information on my servers unless required for the on-going operation of my site.

It is Writing Wings’ policy to respect your privacy regarding any information I may collect while operating my website.

Website Visitors

Like most website operators, Writing Wings collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Writing Wings’ purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Writing Wings’ visitors use this website. From time to time, Writing Wings may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of this website.

Writing Wings also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on my blog. Writing Wings only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below, except that blog commenter IP addresses are visible and disclosed to the administrators of the blog where the comment was left.

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Certain visitors to my website choose to interact with Writing Wings in ways that require Writing Wings to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that Writing Wings gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, I ask visitors who comment on the blog to provide a username and email address. Those who wish to receive Writing Wings updates via email, Writing Wings collects their emails. In each case, Writing Wings collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfil the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with Writing Wings. Writing Wings does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.

I primarily use my blogs to communicate this type of information, so I expect to keep this type of email to a minimum. If you send me a request (for example via a support email or via one of my feedback mechanisms), I reserve the right to publish it in order to help me clarify or respond to your request or to help me support other users. Writing Wings takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.
